Learning accompanied by physical activity

‘Educational Kinesiology’, is a movement-based programme aimed at enabling children and adults to reach their maximum potential. It aims to draw out innate intelligence through natural movement experiences. Called ‘Brain Gym’, its programme of specific exercises precede and accompany learning, and develop cross lateral co-ordination in children.

Some Alexander teachers find the Brain Gym exercises very useful when working with children as these are said to specifically address improving concentration and stimulate the neural pathways in the brain. What these Alexander teachers add to Brain Gym is the knowledge of how to activate children’s central co-ordination through freeing up the head and neck relationship, a vital part of the nervous system’s functioning.
